It is mainly used in the preparation of fruity flavors such as cherries, apricots, peaches, strawberries, apples, pineapples, bananas, grapes and other fruity flavors. In wine flavors, it is often used to blend wine flavors such as Laum, Sherry, brandy, whiskey and white grapes.

It is also used as a solvent for nitrocellulose and cellulose acetate

It is an intermediate of Cytosine and Thymine

In the pharmaceutical industry, it is used in the production of anti-tumor drugs fluoxidine and vitamin B1. It is also used in the production of Carbamazepine, Oxymetholone, pyrante, Leucoson, etc.
