Application:  

Maltol is widely used as flavor enhancer to improve mouthfeel and to enhance flavor of candy and baked foods in food production and of soft drinks in beverage industry.

It is a broad-spectrum fragrance synergist, with the effects of enhancing, solidifying, and sweetening.

It can be used to formulate edible flavors, tobacco flavors, cosmetic flavors, etc., and is widely used in food, beverages, meat products, tobacco, wine, and pharmaceuticals And other industries, with obvious effects.

It is mainly used to prepare strawberry, coffee, malt, nuts, vanilla and various fruit flavors. Used for bread, cakes have the ambiguity of freshly baked.

It is mainly used in pastry, chocolate, candy, tobacco and alcohol flavors, and acts as a sweetener and flavor synergist.The amount used in chewing gum is 90mg/kg; 31mg/kg in candy;30mg/kg in baked goods;15mg/kg in jelly; 8.7mg/kg in cold drinks;7.5mg/kg in puddings;4.1mg/kg in soft drinks .

Maltol is also an excellent substance for coating photosensitive film to prevent spots and streaks evenly.

Maltol can inhibit the growth of melanin and whiten the skin.

According to FEEDAP Panel, maltol is safe to be added to feed for all animal species at the normal use level of 5 mg/kg feed.

Maltol can be used instead of coumarin. Adding 5-200g of maltol per ton of feed can promote the rapid growth of piglets.

It is used as intermediate in pharmaceutical for medicine manufacturing.
